Someone in the process of training to become an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) is known as a Potential Driving Instructor (PDI). The PDI needs to pass three qualifying exams to become a an ADI: 1)the ADI theory test, 2) the test of driving ability and the 3) the test of instructional ability. These tests assess a PDIs knowledge of road safety, driving skills, and their ability to teach others.

On average, it can take between six months and a year to complete all three stages of the training – see question above, including the necessary driving and teaching experience, but it largely depends on the trainee’s previous experience and how much time they can dedicate to training.

The DriveAll Driver Training ADI training program includes access to study materials, one-on-one sessions with experienced trainers, and in-car practice sessions to help you learn and refine teaching techniques. Continuous support throughout training is given to ensure keep confidence levels high and to maintain preparedness for each stage of the qualification process.
