Lessons for the Full Licence Holder
Full Licence Holders who wish to gain experience on the motorway or other fast roads can do so either in their own vehicle or in one of ours.
Learner Motorway Training
Following a change in the law in 2018, a learner driver can receive motorway tuition PRIOR to passing their driving test under specific circumstances:
- Motorway training MUST be with a qualified Driving Instructor – not with someone such as a family member or friend who is not a qualified driving instructor.
- The vehicle the learner drives during any motorway tuition must be fitted with dual controls.
- The learner driver must be considered by the qualified driving instructor to be close to passing their practical driving test, and be of a standard fit to drive on a fast road such as a motorway.
When a person learning with The DriveAll Driver Training Co. has reached the relevant standard, the opportunity to undergo motorway training may be offered, if the learner wishes to do so, and the instructor agrees. Motorway driving lessons are for those who wish to increase their confidence on the motorway, or perhaps have passed their test and have never driven on the motorway. Anyone who feels nervous about driving at higher speeds or handling multiple lanes can benefit from motorway driving lessons. These lessons are confidence boosters and teach all the skills required for safe motorway driving.
You will learn essential skills of motorway driving such as entering and leaving the motorway by means of a slip road or a roundabout, merging, safe lane changes, safe following distances in varying conditions, driving at higher speeds and overtaking. Your DriveAll Driver Training Co. instructor will make sure that you understand motorway signage, rules and driving etiquette. So that when you are driving alone, you will feel comfortable and safe.
No. You can take a motorway driving lesson under specific rules that came into force in 2018. If you are a learner, and are close to test-ready, in a dual controlled vehicle and are under the supervision of a Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) then you are permitted to drive on the motorway during a lesson. You cannot do so during private practise under any circumstances.
